SCROLL DOWN TO SEE ALL OF OUR 2008 UPDATES!

Wow - so we are half way through March and we are just a little puzzled as to how the last two months just quitely slipped past us both.

Neither of us can remember much of what we have done so far this year. New Years Eve was a memorable one for sure. Our first three New Year's were spent at home, void of loud noises, party makers or streamers. Steph was determined to change that, and so we did.

Downtown Dallas was the place to be. A local new station, WFAA, hosted a New Years Eve bash at Victory Park complete with a live band, party hats and favors and a large crowd of party goers. We elbowed our way towards the front as best as we could without getting squished. The night was chilly, but the excitement of the whole night made us forget about the icy temperature as we danced and cheered our way into 2008.

We are both excited about this year. We have both resolved to make the most of our time this year just doing what makes us happy. We will work hard, play hard, and enjoy what time we have together before things change for us...

March 2008

The first three months have quickly come and gone. Although we have not had much excitement in our lives we cannot complain because we have been happy, healthy and enjoying every new day we have been blessed with.

Happy Spring!

~This and That~

June 2008

After three years of marriage we decided to go to a park and take 'family pictures'. It was a lot of fun trying to time the camera, which was hooked onto a tripod, and then see Juan run sprint back to his position before the camera shot the picture. At least we got a few good ones. Thank goodness for digital cameras with timers, tripods and Photoshop!

Steph got her hair chopped off (five inches - which is a lot of hair for her). She goes to a great stylist that she highly recommends: Shear Emma.

After the hair-chopping experience (which turned out fabulously) Steph had the opportunity to go to Stephenie Meyer's book tour for "The Host" with a couple of friends. One short lecture and a few hours later they met the author and even had some books signed, too!

Oh, can't forget to mention that we had a few dates with Ethan, the adorable son of Jake and Emma (a.k.a. Shear Emma). Ethan and Juan played "I'm gonna get ya" for about two hours...Juan was pooped, but Ethan just couldn't stop! We also played "little red riding hood", too. See picture at right =>

For Father's Day Juan received a candy tie from the primary kids (made by Emma!). Juan didn't eat a single piece of candy from that tie, which means...ahem. Our Father's Day feast was dee-lish! We ate the yummiest burgers and watermelon for dinner, compliments of the Hansens (that means Emma, Jake and Ethan). Thanks guys!

Not long after Father's Day was Juan's birthday. It was a big year for him (but we won't say how big). We made sure to celebrate all weekend long doing his favorite things, eating his favorite things (Salteña anyone?) and playing with his favorite things (video games, toy helicopter...). We spent a day downtown relaxing and doing fun things. We ate at the Spaghetti Warehouse, at the West End, for dinner and played video games while we waited for our table. Fun, fun! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUAN!

~Friends, Fun & Fireworks~

July 2008

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! Once again, we had a great time at Kaboom Town 2008. A few of our friends met us at Addison Circle park for the big show. We hung out, got our faces painted (compliments of Emma), and listened to the live music.

One big highlight were the fly-by war planes. There were aerobatic planes that did flips and turns...and skydivers, too!

We both happened to get FRIED at the pool over the holiday weekendwhile swimming at the pool at our complex. It was so hot, and the water felt so good...we lost track of time :) We were not the only ones who had crispy burned shoulders...our friends did, too! We all ached for a while. At least we were not alone. Aloe lotion never felt better!

Our other big July adventure was to Shreveport, Louisiana, for work and play. We mostly worked, because Steph was really sick that weekend, but at least we were able to relax a little. You can see the fruits of our labor from our Shreveport weekend by visiting www.pohnuhs.com. Kudos to Juan for his amazing web design and photography work, and kudos to Steph for being a good looking assistant :)

Say Aloooooha to Fall!

It seems like we have been so busy, and then when we try to think of what we have been doing every week we can only think of work, work and more work! We have managed to do a few fun things though :)

BYU-Hawaii now has an alumni chapter in North Texas, yeehaw! We are both on the chapter board so we were involved in the planning and preparation of our first activity in September. It was fun to make new acquaintances, wear our Island stuff and eat cultural food (Pani Popo, anyone?)

Our biggest adventure this year (so far) was our recent trip to Utah. It was a short trip, but so much fun. We spent most of our time with family. Lauren is the newest grandchild and we were able to meet her for the first time this month. It didn't take long for her to warm up to us. We gobbled her up as much as we could. Michael is also getting so big and he is a bundle of energy and fun.

We recruited Todd, Steph's littlest brother, to come with us on a photography excersion through the Alpine Loop. The scenery along the way was spectacular although the leaves had not fully turned into various bright fall colors. We stopped at Cascade Springs and continued our photography fun. The day was so beautiful, even with the sporatic rain.

We both had a wonderful time visiting Utah, the mountains, our family and a few friends.

In other news...Steph is finally the proud cyber-owner of a blog. Our family stuff stays here though :) You can read about her miscellaneous interests and 'side stories' by visiting her blog, Steph Side Story.

Happy Fall Y'all!
