Spectacular September September is here already!? We are somewhat in denial that Christmas shopping has officially begun. Steph's favorite craft store has their entire Christmas section set up already. Modern-day culture seems to have skipped over fall festivities to focus more on the Ho-Ho-Ho season. Sure, we still go trick-or-treating & eat turkey while watching football, but Christmas hovers over like a jack-in-the-box ready to spring out the very first second that it can. Don't get us wrong, we enjoy the warm fuzzies of Christmas, but we wish that Christmas didn't take three or four months to prepare for. We are not lazy, we just appreciate the fall season too much to be overly welcoming of a premature Christmas. |

We are excited about going to the Texas State Fair, home of the Corny Dog, over-sized barbequed turkey legs, delicious funnel cakes & fried anything (Oreos, Mac n' Cheese & fried Coke). Last year Steph managed to get mustard all over the front of her T-Shirt in the first 30 minutes we were at the fair. Boy, those Corny Dogs are good! Juan digs the turkey legs. It's entertaining to see swarms of people walking around with a big turkey leg in their hands, gnawing on it like they were going out of style. Kinda reminds us of the Flintstones. | ||
We went bike-riding on Labor Day to White Rock Lake. Our three hour, round-trip ride turned out to be a blast! We made a few stops to enjoy the scenery and rehydrate along the way. There were a couple of times that Steph had gear problems, and then it started pouring cats & dogs during the last stretch of the 9.33 mi/15 km trail. The rain wasn't an issue, but it was the salty sweat that the rain dripped into our eyes, burning them mercilessly. Juan's eyes were bloodshot by the time we reached the finish line. Poor Juan! It was our first time, which was fun despite our small troubles. Hopefully we'll make take the time to go to a few different bike trails in the next few weeks. Check out this video of our newest nephew, Erik. Naturally we are biased, and we do think he is a handsome little man. We have not seen him in person, but thanks to technology we have been able to know his little face through the webcam. Somehow we have a funny feeling that Erik will grow up to know us as Cyber Aunt & Cyber Uncle. |

As you can see, we have a new site. After months of creative differences, blood, sweat, and tears, we finally came up with a design that we were both thrilled about. Does it look a little "scrappy" to you? Well, yes, it's because Steph has turned into a crafty nut on the computer. All the credit goes to Juan for making the site come to life on the web, assisting in the design process, and for teaching Steph how to create awesome things in Photoshop. So, check out the rest of our newly designed site (subject to a few slight changes over the holidays...). |
